The studio is centrally located in Buenos Aires, on Juan D. Perón and Montevideo, with easy access to 3 subway lines and various bus lines.
Pilates
Our philosophy is simple: real Pilates for real life. We personalize the sessions to suit your goals and needs. From beginners to advanced practitioners, we support individuals of all ages and fitness levels. We offer post-rehab Pilates, as well as Pilates for seniors. We teach in English, Spanish, and Finnish.
Why Sisu?
Sisu is a Finnish word that encompasses various concepts. Extraordinary determination, courage and resoluteness in the face of extreme adversity. An action mindset which enables individuals to see beyond their present limitations and into what might be. An integral element of Finnish culture, and also a universal capacity for which the potential exists within all individuals.
Arja Pirinen, owner
I was born and raised in Finland. After finishing my studies at the Vaasa University, I moved to Washington, D.C. to work at the Embassy of Finland. I first discovered Pilates in 1998 as a dance student and a fitness instructor, got certified to teach in 2000 and PMA certified in 2006. I have studied both classical and contemporary Pilates with various master teachers, including Bob Liekens, Elizabeth Larkam, Kathy Grant, and Julian Littleford. In 2016, I moved to Buenos Aires, where I first taught Pilates and yoga at Nórdica Quiropraxia & Pilates. I opened my own studio, Sisu Pilates, in February 2019.
My clients have included all ages and fitness levels, from teens to seniors and from beginners to professional dancers and athletes. I have worked with dancers of the Washington Ballet and taught Pilates to the D.C. United, the professional soccer team of Washington, D.C.
I want to bring Pilates to a wider audience and help people integrate its principles into their everyday lives. As an instructor, I combine my experience and knowledge in various disciplines with my desire to positively impact individual lives. My Pilates instruction is grounded in over three decades of health and fitness expertise. As a huge fan of cross training, outside the Pilates studio you can find me weight training in the gym or dancing Tango.

Excelente experiencia! Fui a clases dos años hasta que me mude de ciudad. Lo recomiendo completamente, las clases de Pilates me ayudaron a fortalecer la espalda y los abdominales, mi postura mejoró muchísimo (entre varios beneficios)! La profe es excelente persona y con mucho conocimiento, se aprovecha al 100%. Las clases fueron muy dinámicas y muy bien dirigidas al nivel de exigencia que tuve en cada etapa del aprendizaje.
